Religious Education

Religious Education is taught through the Discovery RE scheme, which is planned in accordance with Birmingham’s agreed syllabus for Religious Education. The scheme teaches children about the six main religions – Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism and Sikhism – throughout their school life. Our scheme is under pinned by British Values and SMSC.

To further support the teaching of RE, children engage in regular collective worship sessions and assemblies which focus on various religious festivals, celebrations and observances. We also aim to send all children to visit a range of places of worship, during their time at Gossey Lane.

An overview of the topics covered and planned visits can be found below.
