PE

Our Intent:

A high-quality physical education curriculum inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically-demanding activities. It should provide opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness. Opportunities to compete in sport and other activities build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect.

At Gossey Lane school, we understand the contribution of PE and sport to the health and well-being of our pupils.  In addition, we believe that an exciting, varied PE curriculum, combined with extra-curricular opportunities, can help to promote other valuable qualities such as good discipline, teamwork, communication, perseverance and a drive to succeed.  We aim to achieve this through a commitment to providing every child with the necessary skills and confidence to participate in sporting activities and in leading a healthy lifestyle.

Below is an overview of the PE topics at Gossey.

MAT Dodgeball Competition

10 children from Year 3 and 4 were invited to take part in the MAT Dodgeball competition.  The competition was tough and they came a very admirable 2nd to Washwood Heath Primary School.  They were superstars and showed great skill, strength and team playing throughout all of their games.  Amelia Cobley in Year 3 was nominated by her team for ‘Team Player’ for showing the MAT values of Respect, Collaboration and Aspiration.
