KiVa Anti-bullying programme at Gossey Lane Academy

We recently ran a parent workshop where we educated the parents about bullying and how we effectively tackle cases in school. Parent's left feeling confident that should cases arise at school, they will be swiftly and dealt with. This has helped to dispel some myths surrounding bullying.
Gossey Academy are entering their second year of the programme's implementation. It's showing a positive impact on both the children and parent's understanding of bullying. We have had a 60% decrease in the number of cases raised and the staff on the KiVa team are fully trained and experienced in knowing how to deal with such incidents.
The programme provides our school with both universal actions (a comprehensive antibullying curriculum for the teachers to deliver in Years 3-6) which works as a preventative measure. The Indicated actions the programme details provide our Academy with a process for all staff to follow. This has ensured all cases whether founded or not help our children to feel listened to and ensure acute cases of bullying stop immediately.
We are planning to run further workshops where our designated KiVa champions (children from each class) will run presentations to their own classes and to the parents themselves!
