Year 6 Visit Think Tank
We had a fun-packed fascinating day on Year 6’s recent trip to Birmingham’s own renowned science museum: Think Tank. This day was centred around our current Science topic of Circulatory System, providing our children with hands-on learning experiences that deeply enhanced their understanding of the human body.
The day began with a specialised workshop titled ‘Under my Skin’ where the children discovered all about the human body, starting with the teeth working all the way down to the different systems within our body that allow us to live and thrive on a daily basis.
During this session, children were given the unique opportunity to step into the role of various muscles and organs within the human body fully immersing themselves in the experience of how these vital parts work together to keep us functioning. Through interactive activities, each child represented a different organ or muscle, acting out their specific tasks, such as the heart pumping blood, the lungs breathing in oxygen, and the muscles contracting to allow movement. This hands-on approach allowed the children to understand just how busy and hard each part of the body works, giving them a deeper appreciation of the complex processes that keep us healthy and active every day.
The afternoon continued with children exploring various exhibits related to health and biology, including interactive displays that allowed them to learn about the circulatory system, digestion and even the senses.
The day was a truly unforgettable experience, igniting their imaginations and fostering a greater appreciation of the wonders of human anatomy and inspired many future scientists and medical professionals.
